Intro

00;01;23;01 – 00;01;48;13

Cameron

To kick things off, our first episode features a conversation that I had last year with local radio personality Zeb Bell. I am one of the organizers of the Burley Family and History Expo that we hold each year. And I sat down with Zeb, his wife and doctor history, last year to uncover some fascinating stories about Zeb ancestors. Discoveries made by the incredible experts at the Burley Family Research Center.

00;01;48;15 – 00;02;14;27

Cameron

What I love most about this episode is how it reflects what happens at the center every day. Remarkable stories brought to light, shared and cherished the impact of knowing who we are and where we come from cannot be overstated. Now, without further ado, let’s dive in and begin this journey of storytelling, connection and discovery. Welcome to many Cancer Chronicles.

00;02;14;29 – 00;02;23;28

Cameron

Yeah, so we’re just kind of taking a look at one of the the lines in your family. but yeah, this is for you to, to keep. Well, thank you.

00;02;24;00 – 00;02;26;16

Zeb

I if you want to pass it over to my wife, she’s the.

00;02;26;19 – 00;02;27;11

Cameron

Yeah.

00;02;27;13 – 00;02;29;08

Zeb

Hill entrepreneur.

00;02;29;10 – 00;02;44;23

Cameron

You can probably even follow along, particularly for. But yeah, just kind of added some preliminary things, like how how familiar you are with your, your family. like, how far back do you remember or.

00;02;45;17 – 00;02;49;10

Zeb

and honestly, I should probably pass my grandparents is where I.

00;02;49;10 – 00;02;50;17

Cameron

Draw the line. Yeah.

00;02;50;21 – 00;02;55;14

Zeb

And that would been my parents for, parents. My dad’s mother and father.

00;02;55;16 – 00;02;55;26

Cameron

00;02;56;03 – 00;03;13;06

Zeb

And, they came from Germany, and I really don’t know anything more about any of the past history of them. And then on my mother’s side, from I knew my grandfather and my grandmother much better than I knew my parents, my dad’s mom and dad.

00;03;13;08 – 00;03;13;29

Cameron

Okay.

00;03;14;02 – 00;03;39;08

Zeb

And, we spent a lot of time with them. My grandfather, Frank owned, what was at that time in the early or late 40s, early 50s and up through the 60s, actually the largest meat market in that part of the state of Wisconsin. And, as a matter of fact, one of his big, big sponsors was the Oscar Meyer people.

00;03;39;13 – 00;03;46;05

Zeb

Oh, really? And, my grandfather was the first person to bring in the Oscar Meyer wiener truck.

00;03;46;11 – 00;03;47;05

Cameron

Really?

00;03;47;07 – 00;04;08;29

Zeb

And, I remember it quite well because when I was about 11 years old, I got a chance to get in there, and they took me all over my hometown to Fort Atkinson with that little slit and a little push back, and we could drive everybody and say, I want to wiener whistle, you know. And, that was.

00;04;09;12 – 00;04;12;24

Cameron

Well, yeah, that’s definitely one of the memories I would want to add to your trip.

00;04;12;27 – 00;04;29;27

Zeb

Oh, yeah. I they were really special. not to say that my dad’s parents were children, but they were harder to with. And, being from the old country and everything, and they were very rigid Germans, if you understand.

00;04;29;27 – 00;04;30;28

Cameron

What I mean.

00;04;31;00 – 00;04;33;15

Zeb

I mean, there was a line there if you didn’t step forward.

00;04;33;20 – 00;04;34;09

Cameron

Yeah.

00;04;34;12 – 00;04;42;08

Zeb

Whereas my mother’s parents, the line kept moving.

00;04;42;11 – 00;04;55;02

Cameron

Isn’t that funny how most marriages there, they’re one or the other. They’re. So, as far as, them coming from from Germany. So they spoke German. Were they principal German speakers or.

00;04;55;06 – 00;05;23;10

Zeb

Sprechen she Deutsch? Yeah. I, I knew a couple of words in German and that’s it. But, when they get mad back there, mostly as grandkids, they used to have Thanksgivings, always at their house. and, my my family, my dad’s sister and my dad’s brother and all their families and some other aunts and extended family.

00;05;23;10 – 00;05;41;06

Zeb

We all got together and there was about 35. They got together for Thanksgiving and the kids couldn’t do anything. I mean, you sat in a chair and you got up to go to the table, and then you got back in your chair and it was really rigid. Yeah. And when they get mad, they yell at you in German.

00;05;41;06 – 00;05;51;16

Cameron

And I had no idea where to go. So. Yeah. Pennsylvania. Yeah, I love that. So did your your father speak German pretty well?

00;05;51;18 – 00;06;22;08

Zeb

Yeah, he spoke quite a bit of it. not when we were little kids. He used to call us nicknames in German, and. And, then he would speak in German on occasion when he was around his mom. Yeah, but, no, my mother’s side was all English, and then they were in an easier going route. My grandpa and Grandma Richter on my mother’s side, and, my grandpa was always doing stuff for us kids.

00;06;22;08 – 00;06;29;12

Zeb

I mean, he was a lot of fun to be around, so I don’t want to sound like him being a smooth go against the others. Yeah, I don’t know. He was always.

00;06;30;17 – 00;06;48;19

Cameron

I love that. Yeah. so, Jamie was the one that did a lot of the research here, and she mainly focused on your paternal side. so that that family that came from Germany and stuff. So talking about them. But I had to dive into your maternal side as well. It sounds like you had, like, a a great relationship with them.

00;06;48;24 – 00;07;13;11

Zeb

I did, unfortunately, there was a lot closer with, them, both my sister and myself stay over, and I quoted to em. And, one thing about my grandpa was that meat market. Every single Friday night in the summertime, he would close the meat market down at exactly 930, and I would go up to stay. Maybe for a Friday night.

00;07;13;11 – 00;07;36;25

Zeb

And then also Saturday, if dad didn’t have anything for us to do at the farm, and he would bring home the biggest T-Bone steak I’d ever find. And my, when I was growing up, my favorite meal was T-Bone steaks, button mushrooms, fresh homemade sour dough biscuits. And then they’d have peach cobbler for dessert.

00;07;37;00 – 00;07;37;23

Cameron

00;07;37;26 – 00;07;39;15

Zeb

You know, I’ll tell you what. That’s.

00;07;39;18 – 00;07;40;20

Cameron

Yeah.

00;07;40;22 – 00;07;42;08

Zeb

That’s what.

00;07;42;11 – 00;07;55;08

Cameron

I would. I love that. Well, yeah. To have such, such great access to that. Yeah. Regular basis. So how often you have T-Bone steaks now?

00;07;55;11 – 00;08;21;18

Zeb

You look at the War Department over there. No, we we we’re not suffering. You know, that’s actually a good thing as far as meals are concerned. on Sundays, we usually have, she’s really. She’ll kill a roast beef. That’s great. Yeah. That’s great. And all the trimmings and everything, but. No, that’s just the two of us. You know, we can get one canned soup really good, so we don’t want to.

00;08;21;18 – 00;08;23;03

Zeb

We’re not too exorbitant.

00;08;23;05 – 00;08;26;20

Cameron

Expensive. But, you know, things change after the kids fly the coop.

00;08;26;26 – 00;08;38;25

Zeb

Well, I don’t know how old you are, but when you get to be my age, you just don’t rely on the big fancy meals, you know? So especially. And then, of course, we needed to be Kansas, you know, worried about food.

00;08;38;27 – 00;08;55;17

Cameron

You spend your. Well, that’s what I was, So, taking a look back through with your your fan chart here. So this is, would be. Yeah. So Arlene Richter is your mother.

00;08;55;17 – 00;09;01;25

Zeb

Mother, Marlene Richter. She was Frank and Irma’s Richter’s daughter.

00;09;01;27 – 00;09;14;17

Cameron

Gotcha. Right. So as we’re going back. So this is your grandmother. Great. So your two great grandfather. Johannes. So this is a picture of him and the house that he know.

00;09;14;19 – 00;09;15;18

Zeb

That she put these.

00;09;16;19 – 00;09;21;24

Cameron

you see the paper? Yeah. But, yeah, we were able to to find, quite a few.

00;09;21;24 – 00;09;22;18

Zeb

This is my great.

00;09;22;18 – 00;09;25;12

Cameron

Grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, the.

00;09;25;12 – 00;09;27;11

Zeb

One Edsel. I remember that new.

00;09;27;13 – 00;09;31;20

Cameron

Yeah. He’s the one that actually immigrated from and came over.

00;09;31;20 – 00;09;32;19

Zeb

Here from Germany.

00;09;32;21 – 00;09;38;27

Cameron

Yep. Wow. So they started out there in Germany. That’s their house that he was born and grew up in.

00;09;38;29 – 00;09;47;05

Zeb

He looks like, Who’s the guy? Really? Western actor, I know him. The name’s on the tip of my tongue.

00;09;47;07 – 00;09;47;28

Cameron

00;09;49;14 – 00;09;59;23

Zeb

oh. He was in many, many movies. Anyway. That’s it. Yeah. That’s it. My goodness. What was his take?

00;09;59;25 – 00;10;03;00

Cameron

So that was taken right around 1850.

00;10;03;02 – 00;10;04;13

Zeb

Really?

00;10;04;15 – 00;10;09;02

Cameron

In Germany, the witch picture. We’re talking about the house.

00;10;09;02 – 00;10;09;21

Zeb

His picture.

00;10;09;21 – 00;10;27;20

Cameron

Right. His picture. So that one is, more when he comes across over into, he comes here in New York and fills out his paperwork and he went to New York. That’s where he entered the states. and so those pictures of him and his family were taken right around then. So that would be a little bit later.

00;10;27;20 – 00;10;31;20

Cameron

That’s the picture of the house was taken more in the 1850 timeframe.

00;10;31;23 – 00;10;33;05

Zeb

Whoa.

00;10;33;08 – 00;10;33;27

Cameron

Yeah.

00;10;33;29 – 00;10;35;26

Zeb

They’re looking good. Yes. That’s where I got it.

00;10;35;29 – 00;10;59;29

Cameron

Yep. It’s actually wait till you see your grandmother. but yeah, they’re in. I haven’t even a waltz. Carlson. Prussia in Germany, That’s where they were at. And so, yeah, it’s kind of interesting. I was looking at some different people that came from that same settlement. there’s different sports and Olympians and different things. But one of them was, Schweppes.

00;11;00;03 – 00;11;07;15

Cameron

Like the carbonated drink and stuff, you know, originated there right around the same time frame, just a couple streets over from your grandpa.

00;11;07;15 – 00;11;09;12

Zeb

So I’m related to carbonated water?

00;11;09;13 – 00;11;13;18

Cameron

Yeah, I’m just interested in the little connection.

00;11;13;25 – 00;11;14;19

Zeb

Okay.

00;11;14;21 – 00;11;26;18

Cameron

But. Yeah. And, you got a copy of all of this over there, but, anyway, this is his naturalization record, that he filled out. So this is his actual handwriting that he filled out, here, as he entered New York.

00;11;26;20 – 00;11;27;29

Zeb

What year was that again?

00;11;28;01 – 00;11;31;25

Cameron

So that was 1854.

00;11;31;27 – 00;11;35;24

Zeb

What did they have to go through? They didn’t have an Ellis Island back then?

00;11;35;26 – 00;11;37;13

Cameron

No.

00;11;37;15 – 00;11;40;18

Zeb

They just came over on the boat and and got off grand.

00;11;40;18 – 00;11;53;19

Cameron

Yeah. As far as I know. here we have got let me find exactly where in New York this is coming into. But, he puts that he intends to to go and live in Illinois.

00;11;53;19 – 00;11;55;04

Zeb

In Illinois?

00;11;55;07 – 00;11;56;11

Cameron

Yeah.

00;11;56;14 – 00;11;58;21

Zeb

Okay. So the lake, there.

00;11;58;24 – 00;12;11;14

Cameron

Yeah. I arrived in the city of New York, New York, on May 1848, and now I reside in the county of,

00;12;11;16 – 00;12;24;23

Cameron

Illinois. And that is a bona fide my intention to become a citizen of the United States and renounce all allegiance to every foreign king, prince, potentate and state, especially the Prince of Hesse.

00;12;24;25 – 00;12;26;15

Zeb

Wow. That’s interesting.

00;12;26;15 – 00;12;26;29

Cameron

Yeah.

00;12;27;02 – 00;12;30;23

Zeb

And so far I had no idea. But I had heard the name Branson.

00;12;30;25 – 00;12;31;09

Cameron

Yeah.

00;12;31;12 – 00;12;40;03

Zeb

Didn’t know where to put that. No, seriously, I didn’t. I heard Marshall and I. What side of the family was that on my mother’s.

00;12;40;06 – 00;12;41;03

Cameron

On your father’s side.

00;12;41;10 – 00;12;43;04

Zeb

So that was that’s. It was.

00;12;43;04 – 00;12;53;21

Cameron

No, that’s on your mother’s side, Murray, sir. Yeah. Because your mother is Arlene and then her father and then his mother, and then her father and.

00;12;53;23 – 00;13;05;19

Zeb

Yeah. So let me get in my mind’s eye, frame my grandfather. And his mother was the magnet married name?

00;13;06;26 – 00;13;09;02

Cameron

yes, her name was Emma.

00;13;09;04 – 00;13;12;01

Zeb

And his mother’s name was Emma.

00;13;12;12 – 00;13;19;26

Cameron

Yeah. Frank. William. his mother name was Emma. Amelia Brandt. So.

00;13;19;28 – 00;13;27;27

Zeb

We’ll pardon my being black and always. Sure, but where did she get the name? That through marriage to.

00;13;28;22 – 00;13;41;08

Cameron

some magnet I don’t have on here. So I have her husband as George Richter and George. So Frank William Richter was right.

00;13;41;13 – 00;13;42;13

Zeb

With my grandfather.

00;13;42;17 – 00;13;53;27

Cameron

And his dad is George Richter, and his wife is Amelia Brown. So? So she might have gotten married after. But that’s something I need to check with Jamie on and see.

00;13;54;02 – 00;13;58;20

Zeb

If there’s a connection. But we’re in a big machine night, Killian.

00;13;59;07 – 00;14;02;20

Cameron

Yeah, I’m gonna have to do some more digging on that and find that out for you.

00;14;02;20 – 00;14;11;03

Zeb

I think she lived alone. She used to have that ice. You know, it’s just a little square. And I’m 76 right now. I’m still younger. That can be.

00;14;11;06 – 00;14;12;15

Cameron

00;14;12;17 – 00;14;16;16

Zeb

She used to have a little restaurant in for that concern.

00;14;16;21 – 00;14;18;19

Cameron

Oh, yeah.

00;14;18;21 – 00;14;23;15

Zeb

And let me tell you something. You know what he did? You know? I mean.

00;14;23;17 – 00;14;25;06

Cameron

No.

00;14;25;08 – 00;14;28;17

Zeb

But he was she was a magnet.

00;14;28;20 – 00;14;29;24

Cameron

Magnet at that time.

00;14;30;00 – 00;14;40;22

Zeb

And then I’d really like to know about the transfer. So. Brad Salter, I don’t understand how that got incorporated in there. but that’s interesting.

00;14;40;29 – 00;14;50;02

Cameron

Yeah. And I can look that up here in just a second and see if there’s any more. if maybe she got remarried after George died or or something because he died.

00;14;50;05 – 00;14;52;29

Zeb

Like I did a little bit. She probably killed it.

00;14;53;02 – 00;15;03;27

Cameron

But. Yeah. So her husband, George Richter, dies in 1904, and she passes away in 1958. So there’s quite a gap.

00;15;03;27 – 00;15;20;07

Zeb

Okay, okay. Yeah. we didn’t call her and she didn’t go back in with all. She had another name, but that would have been right. Yeah. I was born in 47 and she died in 58. Right.

00;15;20;09 – 00;15;20;18

Cameron

00;15;20;25 – 00;15;30;02

Zeb

And I can remember on Main Street in Fort Atkinson she had a little restaurant that thank gosh it was little.

00;15;30;04 – 00;15;30;26

Cameron

That killed too many.

00;15;30;26 – 00;15;31;26

Zeb

People, one dying and.

00;15;31;28 – 00;15;33;23

Cameron

That one.

00;15;33;26 – 00;15;38;10

Zeb

I remember that. Yeah, yeah. This is crazy. I forgotten all about that stuff.

00;15;39;28 – 00;15;53;05

Cameron

but yeah. And you said that you weren’t sure that was her name. Maybe George remarried, and that was a a step grandma. But, yeah, I don’t know.

00;15;53;08 – 00;15;55;17

Zeb

I don’t I’m afraid you got me there.

00;15;56;17 – 00;15;59;07

Cameron

yeah, I don’t know either, but we’ll we’ll we’ll take a look at it with.

00;15;59;07 – 00;16;05;11

Zeb

Look. Was it Florence? Did you go to Florence with it?

00;16;05;13 – 00;16;10;05

Zeb

Was Mandy in there asking me? Tough question.

00;16;10;07 – 00;16;11;29

Cameron

I told you where we’re going to put you on the spot.

00;16;12;00 – 00;16;13;06

Zeb

That was is interesting.

00;16;13;06 – 00;16;20;01

Cameron

Yeah. Let me find that tree really quick. You know, 100%.

00;16;20;03 – 00;16;22;10

Zeb

How do you find all this stuff?

00;16;22;12 – 00;16;45;17

Cameron

Just a lot of digging through, through things. So on ancestry, a lot of people that, maybe grandkids from a different one or something have done some research and uploaded photos here and there. on FamilySearch we have extensive record collections that we’re looking through, newspaper articles and things. Immigration records like this one that we found was on FamilySearch.

00;16;45;17 – 00;17;02;20

Zeb

And yeah, so both of my would have been, well, no great grandparents on my mother’s side. No, my dad. So no, I’m confused on my mother’s side. Yeah. Okay. Cool German.

00;17;02;23 – 00;17;03;03

Cameron

00;17;03;03 – 00;17;05;09

Zeb

But no we haven’t got to my dad yet.

00;17;05;12 – 00;17;26;07

Cameron

Correct. Yeah. Yeah. So all of this is on your mother’s side here. But the paternal side of your mother. So you go going all through of Frank Richter there. So yeah. Let me find like over here.

00;17;26;09 – 00;17;28;15

Zeb

Oh press. Yeah.

00;17;28;18 – 00;17;44;15

Cameron

I think it’s just so fun to make these connections and, research things because, I don’t know, sometimes we get a little too disconnected. And in our own little world, you know, and and knowing that, the different struggles and journeys and fun things that are our ancestors.

00;17;44;15 – 00;17;54;17

Zeb

Did you know, it’s interesting we can mention that you folks are going to do this for me. He said, would you mind? And I thought, you know, it’s really interesting because you’re about Christmas time.

00;17;54;19 – 00;17;55;16

Cameron

00;17;55;19 – 00;18;10;05

Zeb

I was having thoughts about really my family and then there’s hardly anybody left. The only one that’s left really is my Aunt Mary which is my mother Arlene’s sister.

00;18;10;10 – 00;18;11;11

Cameron

Okay.

00;18;11;14 – 00;18;23;26

Zeb

And she’s honey was she 93 now. Something like that. Yeah. Sharp as a tack. Still drives every day. It was everywhere. And she, I think is one of the last living.

00;18;23;29 – 00;18;30;16

Cameron

Really? Yeah. Yeah. It’d be really fun to to get to know her and and record any of those stories that she might have before she.

00;18;30;23 – 00;18;32;23

Zeb

Yeah. And, you know, I’ve asked her about that.

00;18;32;24 – 00;18;33;20

Cameron

And.

00;18;33;23 – 00;18;38;25

Zeb

We just haven’t. It’s too bad she’s too dumb to do it. Yeah. Do it.

00;18;38;27 – 00;19;00;16

Cameron

You know for sure. So I just looked up, Emma. Brad. So. Okay. So, Frank, William Richter, your grandfather. Right. His mother is Amelia or Emma. Amelia brand. So. And she was married twice. Her first husband was George Richter, and her second husband was Grant Franklin Magnet.

00;19;00;18 – 00;19;02;20

Zeb

Home run. What’s your first name?

00;19;02;22 – 00;19;03;17

Cameron

Cameron.

00;19;03;19 – 00;19;03;29

Zeb

Cameron.

00;19;04;00 – 00;19;06;04

Cameron

You sure.

00;19;06;07 – 00;19;07;08

Zeb

That’s all.

00;19;07;08 – 00;19;11;09

Cameron

Right? I’ll make sure that you put that request in.

00;19;11;11 – 00;19;17;06

Zeb

I knew that was in there. So the the first one was Branson’s. And he does.

00;19;17;16 – 00;19;18;23

Cameron

so the first one was Richter.

00;19;18;28 – 00;19;21;06

Zeb

Oh, I’m sorry. Richter I have the deed.

00;19;21;08 – 00;19;34;28

Cameron

And he dies in 1904. And then let me see you when these ones were married and then in 1906. So she was single for two years as a widow. And then she remarries Grant magnet.

00;19;35;01 – 00;19;37;09

Zeb

And when was Frank born?

00;19;37;12 – 00;19;47;06

Cameron

Let’s see. Frank was born 1898. So your biological would be through the Richter there on something? Never was.

00;19;47;16 – 00;20;04;06

Zeb

so that was his. His dad was the bread. So. No, no, the, the Richter, And then he died, and, great grandmother Magnet married.

00;20;04;08 – 00;20;12;26

Cameron

A magnet to, Yeah. So she was born as a brown soul. She marries Richter and then remarries magnet.

00;20;12;28 – 00;20;14;25

Zeb

Where did she come from?

00;20;15;15 – 00;20;23;01

Cameron

so she is born in Wisconsin, in Brooksville, Wisconsin.

00;20;23;03 – 00;20;34;16

Zeb

You know, you triggered another thing. Bridgeville. Okay. No, I remember mom saying that they had, you know, a family of Bridgeville.

00;20;34;22 – 00;20;35;08

Cameron

Yeah.

00;20;37;13 – 00;20;51;24

Zeb

one summer. Oh, man. I was a little squirt. Yeah. They put. I was in the car when I went to grad school. I can’t even think we were, but it was in Wisconsin, so even there now, I don’t know, but I remember going to Bridgeville.

00;20;52;01 – 00;20;52;19

Cameron

Yeah.

00;20;52;21 – 00;20;53;08

Zeb

Oh.

00;20;53;11 – 00;20;56;13

Cameron

Yeah. It says the county is Marquette. I don’t know if that brings up.

00;20;56;13 – 00;21;06;01

Zeb

Okay. That would be on, oh. What East side of the state over Michigan.

00;21;06;03 – 00;21;13;12

Cameron

Yeah. The thing. Yeah. yeah. And that’s where she’s also buried is over in Brooksville.

00;21;13;14 – 00;21;20;01

Zeb

That’s right. I remember they took her body up there. Well, you know more about my family.

00;21;20;03 – 00;21;35;19

Cameron

Okay. We’ll have to look it up. I got to see, but. Yeah. So, Worth coming down through a line between.

00;21;35;21 – 00;21;40;14

Cameron

So these are, I remember, right? Oh, my.

00;21;40;19 – 00;21;41;13

Zeb

Goodness.

00;21;41;16 – 00;21;44;22

Cameron

Those are all of Emma’s siblings.

00;21;44;25 – 00;21;50;23

Zeb

Now, did can explain to you that my real name is wrong as a bell.

00;21;50;26 – 00;21;52;02

Cameron

Yeah, we found that out. I don’t.

00;21;52;02 – 00;21;56;17

Zeb

Know that. That’s why I. You know, I got to tell you a little story. Just so you’re not confused.

00;21;56;18 – 00;21;57;23

Cameron

Yeah. Thank you.

00;21;57;25 – 00;22;18;12

Zeb

All right. My dead mother, of course. Mr. Lewis and Jerry. Isabel. Zeb zebit. Oh. Well, and then I stayed with that legal name until I went to college. and when I started playing baseball, and then also I was in communication school, and there were four runs.

00;22;18;18 – 00;22;20;22

Cameron

Up on the. Yeah.

00;22;20;25 – 00;22;40;16

Zeb

And it was kind of a standing joke that my records go wrong. I mean, I could have got killed, you know, it like this, you know. So I was in broadcasting school at the time, also was part of the University of Minnesota run Institute, and I just took my last name and chopped it to have, you know, added to be.

00;22;40;25 – 00;22;41;14

Cameron

so interesting.

00;22;41;21 – 00;23;05;26

Zeb

For a broadcasting. Well, then I was at Bell and then I came out here and in 69, you know, went to work for college radio and Twin. And the name just stuck. I mean, it was a great broadcasting name and it was great for country music. And then when I joined the turned into the rodeo business in 1971.

00;23;05;28 – 00;23;24;21

Zeb

Oh, shoot, that was a moneymaker for me. Yeah. And then in the mid 80s and 90s and early 2000, I did quite a bit of movie work with it. And there’s nobody else in Hollywood names that bill. Yeah. So it really has been an asset for me. I just love explaining.

00;23;24;22 – 00;23;25;21

Cameron

Yeah, that’s a perfect.

00;23;26;11 – 00;23;34;07

Zeb

oh, Uncle Herman. Holy cow. That was my fit for when great uncles on what side I heard.

00;23;34;07 – 00;23;39;01

Cameron

So this is Emma. So McKnight. These are her siblings.

00;23;39;03 – 00;23;41;06

Zeb

These are Emma’s kids.

00;23;41;06 – 00;23;42;13

Cameron

Siblings?

00;23;42;15 – 00;23;45;01

Zeb

Oh, okay.

00;23;45;03 – 00;23;47;04

Cameron

Yeah, yeah. So as soon as.

00;23;47;04 – 00;23;49;15

Zeb

James get in here.

00;23;49;17 – 00;24;02;24

Cameron

Though. So. Yeah, as soon as Johannes comes over, brings his family. they’re starting to take these pictures as they’re, emigrating. So they’re in Illinois. Somewhere in Wisconsin. But but.

00;24;02;24 – 00;24;04;27

Zeb

Yeah. And they all came from Germany.

00;24;05;00 – 00;24;07;19

Cameron

00;24;07;21 – 00;24;15;14

Zeb

I love John and Catherine. Have ten more children. Ten more. how many they have altogether?

00;24;15;16 – 00;24;18;03

Cameron

That’s a good question. I believe there was 12, but I could be wrong.

00;24;18;03 – 00;24;24;09

Zeb

Just very five. Doug, before the age of ten for. Holy cow.

00;24;24;16 – 00;24;41;15

Cameron

I tell you what, the 11 total. And. Yeah, a lot of them passed away. when? Before the age of ten. but, we’ve got photos of all the ones that that made it past that age to adulthood. somehow they they took almost pictures.

00;24;41;18 – 00;24;45;11

Zeb

Yeah. That’s amazing. Yes, I’ve heard so many.

00;24;45;11 – 00;24;47;09

Cameron

So that’s.

00;24;47;10 – 00;24;49;24

Zeb

Good. I’m really intrigued with this.

00;24;49;26 – 00;24;58;08

Cameron

Yeah. And so, let’s see. So this photo that we’ve got here is of Emma. And so she was born in 1875, in Briggsville.

00;24;58;09 – 00;25;00;20

Zeb

Now, this is my great grandmother.

00;25;00;25 – 00;25;23;15

Cameron

And great grandmother. And so she is pictured below with her mother and three of her brothers. And so some of these that we just seen, her father, Johannes, the one that brought the whole family over from Germany, died of heart disease when Emma was nine. So she lost her father really early on. she married at age 22.

00;25;24;21 – 00;25;44;10

Cameron

perhaps following picture is around that age. Oh. Of this one. So. Yeah. So this is her when she’s young. Her father has, already passed away. But this is her and her mother right there. down below the. The younger girl. So that’s your great grandmother, and that’s your great great grandmother.

00;25;44;12 – 00;25;56;03

Zeb

All these booklets and this home, as you can see.

00;25;56;05 – 00;26;00;10

Zeb

But how old was when she was? What age? Oh nine.

00;26;00;12 – 00;26;09;01

Cameron

Yeah, she was nine when her father passed away. So this is somewhat around that time frame. Yeah. We don’t have an exact date on the picture. Yeah.

00;26;09;03 – 00;26;12;07

Zeb

And this was taken in Bridgeville.

00;26;12;09 – 00;26;19;15

Cameron

So I get it. We’ll find out where that is. Yeah. You.

00;26;19;18 – 00;26;24;00

Zeb

Yeah. I wonder if you could get any better than that.

00;26;24;03 – 00;26;32;14

Cameron

I assume it’s a but. Yeah. So this is a picture of her Emma, when she, just right around the time she’s married.

00;26;32;15 – 00;26;33;15

Zeb

She was a good little lady.

00;26;33;16 – 00;26;41;13

Cameron

Yeah, she’s very beautiful. she got married at 22 years old. And so this is right around that time.

00;26;41;15 – 00;26;50;10

Zeb

Wow. She was 22 here. I haven’t seen that or been 18. Yeah, yeah.

00;26;50;12 – 00;26;52;23

Cameron

See, you’re putting me on the spot with math net.

00;26;52;23 – 00;26;56;18

Zeb

Okay. I’m sure. I think that picture was taken when she was nine.

00;26;56;20 – 00;27;13;06

Cameron

So 1875 when she’s 22, she’s going to be just right around the turn of the century there or it. No, not a century. 18 90. So that was close. 1897. Yeah, right.

00;27;13;08 – 00;27;16;25

Zeb

She’s a very attractive lady.

00;27;16;27 – 00;27;17;28

Cameron

Yeah, yeah.

00;27;18;00 – 00;27;24;02

Zeb

I’m I I’m impressed.

00;27;24;05 – 00;27;30;05

Cameron

Yeah. Let’s see what else we got here.

00;27;30;07 – 00;27;47;27

Cameron

And then your great grandfather, George Rector. So this is Emma’s husband. so she got married around this time frame with this photo, but he died really early on at age 31 of typhoid fever. And so he and Emma had one child, which is here.

00;27;48;17 – 00;27;48;29

Zeb

my great.

00;27;49;05 – 00;27;50;11

Cameron

Grandfather, Franklin.

00;27;50;11 – 00;27;51;06

Zeb

Frank.

00;27;51;08 – 00;28;02;10

Cameron

Yeah. And then. Oh, yeah. Here’s the magnet. So, Emma married to Grant Franklin Magnet two years later after the war.

00;28;02;12 – 00;28;06;27

Zeb

But who is it now? Two years later, Frank was already born.

00;28;07;10 – 00;28;07;21

Cameron

yeah.

00;28;07;21 – 00;28;11;11

Zeb

And he had the name of Victor.

00;28;11;14 – 00;28;12;13

Cameron

Yes.

00;28;12;15 – 00;28;18;26

Zeb

But she remarried. But my grandfather retained Richter instead of Mcniff.

00;28;19;08 – 00;28;21;18

Cameron

yeah. they never changed his name.

00;28;21;18 – 00;28;28;09

Zeb

Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay. Yeah.

00;28;28;11 – 00;28;41;02

Cameron

And then this is the death certificate of her first husband when he dies of typhoid. it goes through and lists his characteristics and things, but.

00;28;41;05 – 00;28;43;05

Zeb

They were pretty simplistically accidental.

00;28;43;08 – 00;28;44;00

Cameron

Yep.

00;28;44;02 – 00;28;50;03

Zeb

That’s George Ricker. White male, Caucasian farmer.

00;28;50;05 – 00;28;55;11

Cameron

Learned woman who was one of the other guys.

00;28;55;11 – 00;29;04;10

Zeb

I mean, I’ll be there. In front of you. You run across the lot. The testimony before the typhoid.

00;29;04;13 – 00;29;09;05

Cameron

Yeah. Oh, but some freak out. Yeah, yeah.

00;29;09;07 – 00;29;13;22

Cameron

00;29;13;24 – 00;29;19;25

Zeb

Typhoid from a kill. Make that a woman. You.

00;29;19;27 – 00;29;21;09

Cameron

I guess there’s like complications.

00;29;21;09 – 00;29;27;21

Zeb

Of polio there. So I this home was. About ten days he laid.

00;29;27;21 – 00;29;33;22

Unknown

In the house. All the.

00;29;33;25 – 00;29;37;11

Zeb

While I don’t know why you from.

00;29;37;13 – 00;29;40;20

Cameron

That it’s amazing the things that we can do with with the technology we got.

00;29;40;21 – 00;29;41;19

Zeb

Really.

00;29;41;21 – 00;29;42;24

Cameron

But. Yeah.

00;29;42;26 – 00;29;45;06

Zeb

And what about my dad’s side?

00;29;45;20 – 00;30;03;00

Cameron

Your dad’s side? again? Jimmy, spent the time working mostly on your your maternal right there. with Arlene. So she was researching Arlene’s paternal, side there. So, yeah, we can do more research. And, let’s go into.

00;30;03;00 – 00;30;04;14

Zeb

What do I owe you guys for this?

00;30;04;18 – 00;30;08;17

Cameron

Oh, nothing. This is what we do. That’s what we do for free. Because we love it so much.

00;30;08;17 – 00;30;11;16

Zeb

Oh. Do you ever need any encouragement for people to come see you?

00;30;11;17 – 00;30;13;26

Cameron

Or if you want to, that’d be awesome.

00;30;14;00 – 00;30;26;14

Ken

You know, actually, this Saturday, we’re having this expo thing, a family history expo at the CSA building over here. Just thought, oh, we should mention that as well.

00;30;26;14 – 00;30;28;08

Zeb

I’d be happy to. We can talk about it tomorrow.

00;30;28;10 – 00;30;28;24

Ken

Okay.

00;30;28;26 – 00;30;31;11

Zeb

What? Do you have any written information on it?

00;30;31;12 – 00;30;32;15

Cameron

Yeah, I can get you some stuff.

00;30;32;16 – 00;30;34;15

Zeb

Do that if you would. I’ll take care of it.

00;30;34;17 – 00;31;02;29

Cameron

So you have, because we’re here, all the time. Sunday through Thursday. we we just provide one on one individual experience. We have classes, but we help people find the meaningful connection. the discovery screens out here that we’ll show you here in a bit are an excellent way to kind of get started. But like, one of the things that’s really fun is, to see how everybody’s related, like one of the before every kickoff, before every community event, we can see how we’re related to the people involved.

00;31;03;01 – 00;31;17;04

Cameron

So, like, you and I, I just clicked on this as Emma here, and, since we’ve built out the tree in there, I can click on View My Relationship and, it puts me and you as some cousins.

00;31;17;07 – 00;31;20;11

Zeb

But we’ll start. Well.

00;31;20;13 – 00;31;21;23

Zeb

Are you serious? Yeah.

00;31;21;25 – 00;31;23;18

Cameron

With the click of a button, we can see you’re.

00;31;23;18 – 00;31;24;17

Zeb

My seventh cousin.

00;31;24;21 – 00;31;31;05

Cameron

Yeah. Isn’t that so fun? We’d be able to do it with kin here. And he likes it.

00;31;31;12 – 00;31;32;20

Zeb

Back there too.

00;31;32;22 – 00;31;34;16

Ken

Okay, so see if there’s ever related.

00;31;34;18 – 00;31;35;24

Cameron

Yeah. Let’s see.

00;31;35;26 – 00;31;36;20

Ken

This individual.

00;31;36;22 – 00;31;38;27

Cameron

Do you happen to have your phone sign in with FamilySearch?

00;31;38;29 – 00;31;40;10

Ken

I don’t.

00;31;40;17 – 00;31;42;04

Cameron

we could go do it all later on.

00;31;42;04 – 00;31;43;06

Zeb

But, you know, if we are.

00;31;43;09 – 00;31;48;17

Cameron

Oh, man. And second cousins, it’s too close.

00;31;48;23 – 00;31;50;11

Zeb

Your really seventh cousins.

00;31;50;11 – 00;32;11;03

Cameron

Yeah. Yeah. It’s so interesting. The other day, I had, a lady in here from Kenya meet Elizabeth Hadley and, she really loves Derek Hough. Do you know Derek Hough? Dancing with the stars? Oh, yeah. Anyway, she she’s just the number one fan of Derek Hough. And I was like, did you know you were cousins? She was like, no.

00;32;11;05 – 00;32;25;27

Cameron

What? And so I pulled it up for whatever and utter that. Yep. Here here it’s cousins with Derek Hough. That’s the kind of experiences that we can provide here because we do the family history and see how everybody’s related. We. Yeah. It’s so fun.

00;32;25;29 – 00;32;27;11

Ken

I really like that family tree.

00;32;27;11 – 00;32;30;07

Cameron

Yeah. Click in the family tree.

00;32;30;09 – 00;32;32;16

Ken

Okay.

00;32;32;18 – 00;32;44;11

Cameron

And then you’ll have to sign in with, let’s see if you want to do or I don’t know. Is there a back button on that. Oh yeah. And then that sign in right there.

00;32;44;13 – 00;32;46;23

Ken

I’m not sure.

00;32;46;25 – 00;32;49;11

Cameron

If you have your log in information. Yeah.

00;32;49;13 – 00;32;53;10

Ken

Oh yeah. I can go right click.

00;32;53;12 – 00;33;11;27

Cameron

But yeah. And so like on these discovery screens out here, if you have a FamilySearch account and you’ve kind of worked on your, your family history there, you can sign in really quick and it’ll pull up how you’re related to every president of the United States, to inventors that.

00;33;11;29 – 00;33;15;09

Zeb

Don’t tell me, related to among.

00;33;15;11 – 00;33;19;01

Cameron

That would be, oh, no.

00;33;19;04 – 00;33;22;29

Zeb

No, God love that. And these meetings over.

00;33;23;02 – 00;33;25;05

Ken

I love that.

00;33;25;07 – 00;33;29;27

Cameron

Let me rephrase. If you’re related to any US presidents, it’ll tell you how.

00;33;30;06 – 00;33;32;20

Zeb

my mind works in strange ways. And that’s good.

00;33;32;23 – 00;33;36;03

Cameron

Right? But you’d be surprised how many, like, you.

00;33;36;03 – 00;33;39;29

Zeb

Know, that you mentioned. How did you, on Sundays find out that we were seven cousins?

00;33;40;21 – 00;34;06;22

Cameron

So I took, this Emma, Amelia and I pulled up her page, and there’s a simple little button there that I tap on to view my relationships. So since I’m signed in, it knows who I am. And then, it compares me to whoever has that button. And so I just click on that button and it’ll instantly pull up the relationship and show you exactly how you’re related.

00;34;06;24 – 00;34;27;05

Cameron

So that one was, through my maternal line, and it was through, Emma’s, paternal line. And so I have some coming descendants from, from Germany as well, and all that stuff are. All right. so if we you.

00;34;27;07 – 00;34;30;03

Zeb

I am blown away.

00;34;30;06 – 00;34;39;07

Cameron

See, phone numbers. I see the natural pull up millions.

00;34;39;09 – 00;34;40;20

Ken

Did you have another appointment that I.

00;34;40;20 – 00;34;41;12

Zeb

Did, yeah.

00;34;41;14 – 00;34;42;19

Ken

Oh, yeah, I did.

00;34;42;22 – 00;34;44;20

Cameron

Sorry about that. I didn’t even think doing that was all.

00;34;44;20 – 00;34;56;09

Zeb

That’s all right. This is so intriguing. But I get it. 3:00. I need to get to this. I’m a little late. It’s okay. But we also got. This is out there.

00;34;56;11 – 00;35;03;18

Cameron

Just. All right. People are related. Oh, well, I did a little bit more just. And we’re closer.

00;35;03;18 – 00;35;06;19

Zeb

But he and I are related in.

00;35;06;21 – 00;35;07;15

Ken

So.

00;35;07;17 – 00;35;07;28

Zeb

I just.

00;35;08;04 – 00;35;09;19

Cameron

Yeah, there is a ton here.

00;35;09;19 – 00;35;11;17

Zeb

We have a your head off.

00;35;11;19 – 00;35;12;16

Cameron

I got a moment.

00;35;12;16 – 00;35;12;18

Zeb

Of.

00;35;12;18 – 00;35;13;15

Cameron

Silence.

00;35;13;17 – 00;35;15;00

Ken

Kent cousins.

00;35;15;02 – 00;35;16;18

Cameron

10th cousins.

00;35;17;07 – 00;35;18;24

Zeb

wait till tomorrow.

00;35;18;24 – 00;35;21;05

Cameron

On the show.

00;35;21;07 – 00;35;25;12

Ken

Though. Should never have brought you here. And.

00;35;25;14 – 00;35;32;00

Cameron

But yeah. Isn’t it so interesting how quickly you can bring that up and and show closer.

00;35;32;03 – 00;35;36;25

Zeb

And you never once invited me.

00;35;36;27 – 00;35;40;09

Ken

We only go so far for Thanksgiving.

00;35;40;12 – 00;35;42;00

Cameron

Third cousins and below.

00;35;42;03 – 00;35;45;23

Zeb

That ruined my seat. Be on Thanksgiving.

00;35;45;25 – 00;35;49;10

Cameron

I got back.

00;35;49;13 – 00;35;55;08

Zeb

That’s amazing that his his family evidently stem from the old country.

00;35;55;20 – 00;36;01;05

Cameron

Yeah, there’s something in there. As we we’d be able to kind of take a look through it and see exactly where that relationship you.

00;36;01;05 – 00;36;05;00

Zeb

Find that chord with it, where everybody’s really.

00;36;05;14 – 00;36;16;03

Cameron

it happens here in, in the States, you know, with Caucasians as there’s typically 12th cousins and, and things like that. But to find 10th and seventh cousins. Yeah.

00;36;16;05 – 00;36;21;20

Zeb

The pretty the 10th cousin. We don’t have to get them Christmas for a.

00;36;21;23 – 00;36;22;23

Cameron

I’m.

00;36;22;26 – 00;36;26;11

Ken

Just wondering where done that. But where did that happen.

00;36;26;11 – 00;36;29;13

Cameron

This is some dangerous information. Yeah that’s going to hurt them all until you.

00;36;29;14 – 00;36;31;16

Zeb

Snow 3413.

00;36;31;18 – 00;36;32;27

Ken

Is mine. We’re from England.

00;36;33;24 – 00;36;42;20

Cameron

Okay, so somehow they must have, married in with some of the German families or something that came over. Yeah, we take a look into it, but. Yeah.

00;36;42;23 – 00;36;48;02

Zeb

Well, you’re descent, are you? You’re, Scottish or British?

00;36;48;02 – 00;36;48;21

Ken

English.

00;36;48;21 – 00;36;49;08

Zeb

English?

00;36;49;09 – 00;36;50;19

Cameron

Yeah. No.

00;36;50;21 – 00;36;55;10

Ken

It would be interesting if my wife, Angie. Hers is German.

00;36;55;12 – 00;36;56;01

Cameron

Oh.

00;36;56;03 – 00;36;57;16

Ken

The interesting. So she’s.

00;36;57;18 – 00;37;06;02

Zeb

Well, now she may be on my dad’s side with Albert. now with a grandfather.

00;37;06;05 – 00;37;07;25

Cameron

Like they have a facility.

00;37;07;27 – 00;37;11;16

Zeb

Maybe they’re still in relationship to your.

00;37;11;23 – 00;37;15;06

Cameron

And they. Yeah, right.

00;37;15;09 – 00;37;21;09

Zeb

Oh, because I’m. I’m going to sleep tonight worrying about tomorrow’s blueprints.

00;37;21;11 – 00;37;25;12

Cameron

But. Yeah. And we can always do more extensive research in different parts of your tree.

00;37;25;14 – 00;37;50;02

Zeb

I really like to know my dad’s family. Yeah. isn’t it amazing what you’re going to think? Listen, if you’re saying. But I can’t remember. My grandmother’s the Sybil’s first name. Oh, I don’t I can’t remember it. And then. And she passed away when I was. Oh, my goodness, she passed away when I was probably in grade school.

00;37;50;04 – 00;37;53;19

Zeb

Yeah. And so we’re talking back in her 50s.

00;37;53;25 – 00;37;55;20

Cameron

Yeah. So.

00;37;55;22 – 00;38;03;04

Zeb

And I can’t remember her first name. Well I remember my grandfather, I know him, my dad’s father.

00;38;03;06 – 00;38;04;17

Cameron

I don’t like.

00;38;04;19 – 00;38;28;27

Zeb

And, you know, I remember it. Well, he was talking about a gruff old man. I mean, seriously, yeah, that’s what my dad got is. And then my dad boxed in. Yeah. After World War two. It didn’t help his personality, but, this is so interesting. Yeah, I really like him.

00;38;29;00 – 00;38;32;26

Cameron

Well, yeah, for sure. We’ll be in contact and we can find some more fun.

00;38;32;26 – 00;38;37;24

Zeb

Family stories all over the place. All of a sudden that comes out be Obama. You’re not.

00;38;37;29 – 00;38;42;04

Cameron

Doing. Oh, sit down.

00;38;42;15 – 00;38;42;20

Ken

I.

00;38;42;20 – 00;38;44;10

Cameron

Would love that.

00;38;44;13 – 00;38;45;14

Ken

Or Biden.

00;38;45;16 – 00;38;51;00

Cameron

Oh yeah. That’s it. More possibility right there because. But you never.

00;38;51;00 – 00;38;54;04

Zeb

Know. I don’t know who’d be related to one.

00;38;54;07 – 00;38;54;13

Cameron

Thing.

00;38;54;18 – 00;39;00;26

Zeb

But seriously, have you got the information printed up? I will really plug that for you. I’d be more.

00;39;00;29 – 00;39;04;17

Cameron

I don’t have it right this minute, but I’ll get it to Ken.

00;39;04;19 – 00;39;06;22

Zeb

You and bring it to Reagan tomorrow. Yeah, yeah.

00;39;06;22 – 00;39;23;11

Cameron

So what we’re doing over at the Expo, because we’re here all the time. But once a year, we throw this annual expo where we bring in local people as as well as experts around the country, and they come teach how to do this, how to connect with your family, how to to do different things, how to use the different programs.

00;39;23;18 – 00;39;39;11

Cameron

If you’re interested in like the DNA, aspect of things, we have classes, just about everything as well as this year we’re actually doing history classes. So like Ken’s class, he’s doing a virtual tour of Casa County, kind of a thing. So it’s a family and history expo.

00;39;39;11 – 00;39;49;21

Zeb

He does a great job. I’m honored to have him on my show. Yeah. And so our history was kind of a funny story the way it started. Yeah. And so,

00;39;49;23 – 00;39;51;17

Ken

So Rick Parker, Hewlett Packard.

00;39;51;19 – 00;39;52;05

Zeb

Oh, very.

00;39;52;05 – 00;40;03;18

Ken

Well. So he’s going to do a class right ahead of mine. He’s doing a class on, I think the museum, and I’m doing the Casa County tour, so I’m going to do two classes back to that.

00;40;03;18 – 00;40;08;14

Zeb

See, Rick was the egg and egg man. CSI.

00;40;08;21 – 00;40;09;14

Ken

Oh.

00;40;09;16 – 00;40;36;21

Zeb

Did you know that my years really where the l was going to school with CSI? She was a cheerleader. That CSI for the CSO basketball team. Rick was the head instructor at the side. And he retained that job until probably the mid to late or 70s. And then in the mid to late 70s, they built after the huge fire at Frontier Field.

00;40;36;24 – 00;41;11;03

Zeb

I don’t know if you remember that. I know where the explosives. Oh, that used to be a huge they called it Frontier Field and it was a stable for over 100 horses and all the businesspeople and everybody that lived in town kept their horses until then. They had an outdoor arena and everything. Right. So when you ran into the stalls, well, it burned down or killed a bunch of horses and, Rick was, it was his job to run the Expo Center until they hired Sean Davis.

00;41;11;08 – 00;41;21;06

Zeb

Oh, and Sean came in and took over for the rodeo team. But I’ve known Rick since 1947.

00;41;21;08 – 00;41;23;00

Cameron

Three. Yeah.

00;41;23;02 – 00;41;25;22

Zeb

Good guy. Really sharp guy.

00;41;25;24 – 00;41;26;27

Cameron

Okay.

00;41;26;29 – 00;41;31;01

Ken

And so he spoke to live right next door to where my life grew up going.

00;41;31;03 – 00;41;32;05

Zeb

Really? Are they still.

00;41;32;05 – 00;41;33;10

Cameron

Going?

00;41;33;12 – 00;41;39;25

Ken

I don’t know, I don’t know about this, folks. I should say. Yeah. They were next door neighbors to my wife.

00;41;39;27 – 00;41;54;26

Zeb

This is intriguing to me because, like, the family is intriguing to me. I mean, they were the second family. And so we’re we’re on the north side. Is that right? There was the like these first and then your grandpa on the north side over there.

00;41;54;28 – 00;42;02;27

Cameron

And that’s one thing that he’s teaching two different classes, and one of them is a history of the founders of the North Side. I’d be interested to see if they.

00;42;03;00 – 00;42;08;10

Zeb

You ever hear of her. And that wrote a lot of books called Virginia Records.

00;42;08;17 – 00;42;14;17

Cameron

Oh, really? Oh, yeah. Yeah, I’ve heard those. That’s her. Oh, yeah. Oh, that’s so funny.

00;42;14;20 – 00;42;37;15

Zeb

Yeah, it’s funny story. You know, we didn’t like each other in Virginia. Just. No, seriously, we were in the same room for five minutes. That was four minutes too long. And then all of a sudden, I can’t remember what happened. But she got sick, and she. And we went over to see her, maybe in their house. And I didn’t want to go.

00;42;37;15 – 00;43;01;25

Zeb

It was like, cool. You know, they’d get such a lot of to go in there. And from that meeting that we had at her house that we became best friends. And then when her husband died, Claire, they moved her into a rest home over by the canyon rim. And I can’t remember. I don’t know which one of us is.

00;43;01;25 – 00;43;14;20

Zeb

We usually go up there and see her, and she had just finished her last book at that time. Yeah, girl, I would sit and talk for hours about. I just wish we’d have been closer in years.

00;43;14;20 – 00;43;19;05

Ken

Or I never knew her. But I know the name and I know she was in a lot of history stuff.

00;43;19;05 – 00;43;29;21

Zeb

She was sure. Yeah. that she wrote a lot of interesting books on. Like, I felt bad that we couldn’t have been closer because she was really something that her grandfather, Julia.

00;43;29;23 – 00;43;36;02

Ken

Ricketts, bought. Sorry.

00;43;36;04 – 00;43;38;28

Zeb

William Ranger or was that Bonanza?

00;43;39;00 – 00;43;40;23

Cameron

Oh, okay. Yeah.

00;43;40;27 – 00;44;10;14

Zeb

And her grandfather Julian died when he was 98, 97, and they came over and settled on the north side. I really I don’t want to read about that. Yeah, you know for sure. Well, I’m taking too much. You. This has been so interesting for me. No, seriously, I will do anything I can to help promote you. So just if you’d give that to Ken, I would very much appreciate if there’s any kind of charges or.

00;44;10;14 – 00;44;12;02

Zeb

Or else make it right.

00;44;12;05 – 00;44;14;19

Cameron

Oh, no, not at all. Everything we do is very good.

00;44;14;20 – 00;44;15;02

Zeb

God.

00;44;15;05 – 00;44;21;11

Cameron

Thank you, thank you. Somebody in.

00;44;21;13 – 00;44;40;01

I'm super passionate about a lot of things. My two great loves are family history and learning. Born and raised in Malta I can say that I'm pretty connected to this area and it's history.
